The challenge

Owners had a 7×7 Sundance acrylic hot tub on a concrete pad in the back yard. The only access was a 36-inch side gate with a paver path the homeowner did not want damaged.

Three other haulers had either declined the job or quoted $1,400+ to crane it over the roof.

How we approached it

We confirmed by photo that the tub shell was acrylic over a fiberglass base — cuttable with reciprocating saws. No crane needed.

Crew of three arrived with a sump pump, two Sawzalls, plywood for the paver path, and a furniture dolly. Tub drained into the front yard storm drain (city-approved for treated, low-chlorine tub water) in 35 minutes.

Cut the shell into six pieces, removed the cabinet, drained and disconnected the pump and heater, and rolled everything out through the gate on the protected paver path. No damage to gate or pavers.

The outcome

Tub gone, pad swept, owner walked the side yard and signed off on the pavers before we left.

Final price matched the photo quote ($695). Saved the homeowner roughly $700 vs the next-cheapest 'crane it over' quote.

Metal frame and pump went to scrap; foam insulation and acrylic shell went to the transfer station.

Environmental impact

≈25% diverted (metal scrap + copper pump components)

"Three other companies told me it was impossible without a crane. CNC showed up, drained it, cut it, and rolled it out in pieces like it was no big deal."
