01. Shed removal cost in Arizona, by size and material
Pricing tracks two things: the cubic yards the shed becomes once it's broken down, and the labor hours to safely disassemble it. Metal sheds break down fast but the panels are sharp; wood sheds take longer but pack denser. Tuff Sheds and pre-built wood sheds with shingled roofs and floors fall in the middle.
- 6×8 metal shed (empty): $349–$449
- 8×10 wood shed (empty): $499–$649
- 10×12 Tuff Shed (empty): $649–$795
- 12×16 wood shed with floor + shingles: $795–$1,095
- Add $100–$250 if the shed is half-full of stored items
- Add $50–$150 for electrical disconnect coordination
02. Do you need a permit to tear down a shed in Arizona?
In most Phoenix-metro municipalities, sheds under 200 sq ft and under a certain height do not require a demolition permit — but cities differ. Phoenix, Mesa, and Chandler generally do not require a permit for non-permitted accessory structures. Scottsdale, Gilbert, and Paradise Valley are stricter — if the shed has electrical, plumbing, or sits on a permitted foundation, a demo permit may apply. Always check with your city's building department before tear-down day, especially in HOA communities.
What we never touch without a licensed sub-trade: live electrical, gas lines, anything anchored into a structural slab tied to the main house, or anything with suspected asbestos shingles in a pre-1985 shed.
03. How we tear down and haul a shed
Step-by-step: walk the shed, empty contents (we take or you keep), photograph anchoring, disconnect any electrical at the breaker, remove doors and windows, peel roofing, break walls down in panels, pry the floor (or leave the slab), and load to the trailer.
04. What happens to the debris
Wood goes to construction & demolition recycling at Salt River or a Maricopa County transfer station. Metal panels and roofing are routed to AZ scrap yards. Shingles go to a C&D-permitted landfill. Anything reusable — windows, doors, fixtures — gets routed to Habitat for Humanity ReStore or Stardust Building Supplies when condition allows.
05. What to do with the slab
We do not break and haul concrete pads on a standard shed-removal job — that's a separate concrete-demo scope with its own permit and equipment. Most homeowners leave the pad for the next shed, a workshop, or a future patio extension. If you want it gone, we'll quote it separately or refer a licensed concrete-cutting partner.
- Most Arizona shed removals are $349–$895 all-in
- Plan 2–5 hours for tear-down + haul on a typical job
- Sheds with electrical need a disconnect coordinated first
- Concrete pads are a separate scope — most homeowners leave them
- We donate reusable doors, windows, and fixtures when possible
Common questions
Most Phoenix backyard sheds run $349–$895 all-in. A 10×12 Tuff Shed is typically $649–$795 when empty.
Usually not for non-permitted sheds under 200 sq ft, but Scottsdale and Gilbert can require one if the shed has electrical or sits on a permitted slab. Check with your city's building department.
Not on a standard shed-removal job. Concrete demolition is a separate scope with different equipment — we'll quote it or refer a licensed partner.
Yes. We add $100–$250 to handle contents and route donate-quality items to local charities.
Yes — metal sheds break down fast and the panels get recycled at AZ scrap yards. Sharp edges are why this is a job for crews with gloves and a plan.
